Story
Fencesitters is the 4th Annual Film Project (AFP) that is produced and launched under PSU.tv, a student media organization at Portland State University. All crew members were or are still students at PSU.
Our journey began at the end of 2018, with limited budget and resources and a lot of spirit. We began pre-production in winter of 2018, rallying the core forces of the screenwriter, director and producer. The final version of the script was finished in December, and we started to recruit for a Proof of Concept shoot in January. We managed to get some amount of money from fundraising through the university and the pre-production continued through June. Our first day of shooting was 14th June, the earliest for any AFP. Like any production on-set, we faced many challenges such as; the weather change, quality of food, crew falling sick, and the list goes on. But that did not stop us from trudging on with our film, and we wrapped in August. We had 27 blistering hot shooting days under our belt, and hours of footage to look through! The cast and crew were relieved, and almost sad to have finished filming. But our journey does not end, and it will continue until the film has been sent to festivals, as well as made available for the public to watch.
The synopsis of the film is as follows:
According to Justine, love sucks and she’s having a hard time avoiding it after being roped into helping with her friend’s wedding. She’s dateless and decides to pursue the best and worst idea of breaking her best friend out of rehab to go joy riding across the I-5. Along the trip the group of Hens will attempt to survive the road while running into some interesting travelers. So is that why the chicken crossed the road?
