Movie Review: The Disaster Artist

(9/10) – My Rating
The Disaster Artist: It’s ironic that a biopic about the creators of one of the worst films ever made, “The Room,” ended up being one of the best films of the year. As a director James Franco has received very mixed to poor reviews on his films, but that isn’t the case here. The movie follows the odd friendship of Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero. Franco does an excellent job showing how much of a roller coaster that relationship was.

Along with directing Franco also played the titular role of Tommy Wiseau. Going full on method actor with the role seemed to work very well because it just might go down as Franco’s best performance. The film is also the very first collaboration between James and his brother Dave Franco. Dave, who plays Greg, also gives one of his best performances. The supporting cast and cameos are placed perfectly throughout the film as well.
